I made this as part of a class (6.9600 Mobile Autonomous Systems Laboratory), where the task was to have a robot that could find and stack green blocks while avoiding the red blocks.
I cadded the lifter mechanism in Onshape and built it out of laser-cut acrylic and M4 screws. I was worried about the smoothness of the rack-and pinion design, but it actually ended up working surprisingly nicely after a few adjustments.
